East London is situated on the Buffalo River and sports the only river port in South Africa. The sub-tropical climate and numerous unpolluted and tranquil beaches make it an ideal tourist destination. The locals are truly laid back and welcoming to one and all. Visit one of the many museums to find out more about the Nahoon Footprints that were made by early man more than 200 000 years ago along the banks of the Buffalo River. Before the English settlers landed in South Africa the area was home to the Khoisan a nomadic bushman clan that were forced from the area and whose very existence is threatened today.

The Eastern Cape is one of the most scenic provinces in South Africa.
