The Eastern Cape has bush has been spared some of the large scale farming that mars the South African landscape and therefore one can still encounter wildlife in settings much like the original bushveldt.
The flora and fauna of the Eastern Cape can be found in pristine settings in game reserves dotted throughout the province with perhaps the most well known being the Addo Elephant Park, about one hour’s drive from Port Elizabeth and home to 450 of these magnificent grey beasts.
The province is also home to the Mountain Zebra National Park which hosts 350 of the pajama clad horses, or rather Cape Mountain Zebra as they are properly known.
