The really Great Karoo
Posted on March 3rd, 2010 by Steve
The Klein Karoo is a semi-arid desert situated in the interior of the Eastern Cape Province of South Africa. The endless plains of red earth will make you feel as though you are indeed just a very small person in a very big world. Although there may seem to be very little sign of life in this desert, it supports the largest ecosystem in South Africa. The Karoo supports the largest sheep farming community and produces the best lamb available on the market. The Great Karoo consists of the Klein Karoo and the Central Karoo, each existing in a different province of South Africa, and has been declared a National Park.
